So I was asked to go into the graveyard shift at work. The prior graveyard shift employee had quit. I was the only full time working employee who has flexible enough hours to take on the job. (As when I'm not working there I'm just working from home on my websites).

If I did not accept, they would not be able to find someone fast enough. I feel like I did not have much of a choice. Even after I told them the next day I did not want to accept the shift, I was pushed into it regardless.

With the graveyard, I will be getting paid a bit more, but I loose my weekends. Instead of having every weekend off, I now only have roughly every third weekend off with a few days off in the weeks here and there.

Unfortunately, weekends was normally the only time I could go out and socialize with friends. Supervisors for the job have all agreed I was great for the job I was doing previously and had all reported to upper management that they wish I had stayed.

I'm really not sure what to do about it. I loved my job, but I'm not sure the small increase in my wage will be a replacement for loosing my weekends off.

The sad thing now is there is no going back. I can't just go back to my old shift. In a month time if I really can't stand it, Upper management will be looking for new graveyard shift regardless. If that is because they allowed me to go back to my old shift, or because I am no longer interested in the job and will be looking for a new one.

Any thoughts?
